Vinted Members Express Frustration Over Sizing Modifications

Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.

The popular resale platform has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.

Online Platforms Reaction

Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.

Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches similar services.

The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Changes

Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Shopper Stories

One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.

Necessary Adjustments

Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".

"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained.

Service Background

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options following member complaints.
